WHICH IS YOUR FAVE?

Post by Hannah Tyrrell

It’s been a hectic year to say the least, but with 2017 fast approaching we’re not interested in reflecting on the bad stuff! To start the new year right, we think it’s worthwhile to look for the glimmers of hope from over the last 12 months.

So, being a beauty brand as we are, we thought we’d reflect upon a triumphant year for three fabulous women who have done something inspirational in 2016, and the iconic looks that have become a visual reminder of their successes. Go on, girls!

Beyoncé

When Beyoncé dropped her new album in February, few could have expected the musical epic that is Lemonade. The image of her smashing up cars in a canary yellow dress for Hold Up, will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come. Showing that women can embrace their femininity and still be badass is why Beyonce is one of our icons of 2016. All hail Queen Bey!

Adele

After four long years out of the spotlight, everyone’s favourite female solo artist, Adele, released her third studio album at the end of 2015 – and it was AMAZING! So why does that make her an icon in 2016? Well, regardless of her chart-topping album’s earlier release date, she officially ‘cleaned up’ at award ceremonies this year, enjoyed a successful five-month sell-out world tour and achieved her childhood dream of headlining Glastonbury (all while being an excellent mum and staying incredibly humble, of course)! We’ve loved having her trademark feline flick back in our lives and hope the rumours of a hiatus remain mere rumours.

Alicia Keys

As makeup junkies, the news that Alicia Keys ditched all makeup this year left us not knowing what to think! We’ve all tried to go bare-faced now and again, but find it just doesn’t feel right. Yes, makeup is an excellent way to express yourself, but you should never need it to feel yourself, so we can certainly learn a lot from Alicia’s decision. After years of a manufactured image by the music industry she’s learned to embrace a more natural version of who she is… And that’s something we could all do a little more of in such an edited, filtered and Instagrammed world. You do you, honey!

Note to self: sort a skincare routine for 2017!
