On our quest to #GetTheGlowdown this month, we’ve covered Makeup Removal Mistakes and The Antidote To Aging, but the final edition in this three-part saga is the best yet!  Improving skin tone with lotions and potions might be a labour of love, a quick fix is possible with all the illuminating, highlighting and pearlescent products available. Here’s how we #GetTheGlowdown with just five essential products…

Prepping skin with a brightening serum is essential for replenishing moisture and radiance. bareMinerals Skin Longevity Vital Power Infusion is our go-to for a healthy youthful glow with lush luminosity. Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Radiance Serum, on the other hand, is ideal for brightening and correcting older complexions.

An illuminating primer is essential for giving your makeup a deep, natural glow. We’re sure anyone who tried Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer in our Statement Edit agrees it gives a perfect glow. But did you know it also boasts a nifty antioxidant buffer to protect from the aging effects of the environment? If you struggle with uneven skintone though, Stila’s 10-in-1 Illuminating Beauty Balm masks imperfections, improves texture and more. A lit-from-within finish can be yours, ladies!

Matte makeup is definitely not going to help you achieve your glow destiny! So, instead of adding glow onto a shine-free base, why not go for it with a tinted moisturiser? Elizabeth Arden’s Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturiser brightens with a hint of natural colour. When paired with a pore-perfecting primer, it might provide just enough coverage for a natural glow. If you’re not quite ready for a light coverage base, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is a huge hit for radiant, buildable coverage.

When concealing blemishes, don’t make the mistake of using a brightening concealer, as this will only highlight your blemishes. Opt instead for an ultra creamy, non-drying, complete coverage concealer such as Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. It’ll banish those blemishes in a flash! For the undereye though, brightening is essential. Sweep Maybelline’s Eraser Eye Concealer over dark circles in a lighter shade than your foundation, then simply let active ingredients tackle puffiness. Brilliant!

The most obvious product for adding glow is highlighter, but we reckon a lot of you use it alone for adding glow. Use sparingly to accentuate bone structure, along with a full range of glow-enhancing products. Our favourite Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette includes one cream and three powder highlighters, making it ideal for experimenting with different looks. Benefit’s Watt’s Up Soft Focus has a cream to powder finish that’s easily blendable for a super sheer finish. Dab onto the bridge of the nose, cheekbones and browbone for a gentle hum of shimmer.
