5 WAYS TO FAKE IT OR MAKE IT

Post by Hannah Tyrrell

Trend alert: 2017 is all about sweaty skin! Sorry girls, the Kylie Jenner look is somewhat slipping in favour of stunning dewy, sweaty (yep, sweaty) looking skin. Hot on the catwalks, a glossier finish is the way forward for a barely there look that’s just like your skin, but better – no offence! So whether you buff and brush up your bare beauty, or fake it with carefully applied makeup, here are our top five tips on how to nail this season’s hottest beauty trend…

Highlighter

Ok, so we’re hardly telling you something you don’t know with this one, but highlighting isn’t going anywhere, and for good reason – it’s the easiest way to get a gorgeous dewy glow in a flash. We’ve seen a few stripey silver faces around though, so build and blend, ladies… build and blend!

Natural ingredients

Another huge trend for 2017 is the rise of natural, edible ingredients. Completely predictable for the new year, as everyone guzzles healthy, skin-loving foods – expect beauty brands to latch onto the power of superfoods in their skincare.

Top tip: Ditch the brands and go DIY for the same effect. That, or you could eat them and get glowing skin from the inside out.

Beauty sleep

They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing, and some studies will go as far to say that a lack of good quality sleep can cause premature aging! So shut off Instagram and put that phone down 30 minutes early for a super easy way to gorgeous glowing skin.

Routine

Looking at the beauty counter can be a bit daunting thanks to the various exfoliants, cleansers, toners and more, but a good beauty routine really is the best way to get natural glowing skin. The basics include a good cleanser to remove makeup and impurities, an exfoliator to remove dull, dead skin cells – brightening complexion – and a moisturiser for silky, soft skin. Bliss!

Fake it

Finally, if you haven’t got the time or the patience to sleep well, eat well and slap on different products every day (no one’s perfect!), you can always fake it. We’re not saying don’t do the above, but pairing your daily makeup routine back and going for a more natural ‘off-duty model’ look every now and again is definitely the way to go. Ditch the heavy foundation in favour of a smidge of primer and a light sweep of highlighter, and achieve a gorgeous glow that looks like you’ve got stunning natural skin!

Hint: Add a swipe of lippy to draw attention from your more natural skin and lift your complexion, if you’re not quite confident enough to bare all just yet.
